A George III Pianoforte by Robert Woffington of Dublin, c. 1790, the walnut and mahogany casing inlaid with boxwood stringing and crossbanding to the borders, the hinged fallboard enclosing the nameboard reading 'Robertus Woffington Fec't' and imilarly decorated with boxwood and ebony stringing, flanked either side by inlaid shell detailing. The double hinged lid enclosing the piano mechanism, inscribed 'R. Woffington Fecit' on the fasciaboard, with knee pedal to the underside of the body, all raised on square tapering legs and an H-stretcher, on brass caps and castors, 62in (157cm) wide x 21in (53cm) deep x 31in (79cm) high, in need of restoration. Note: There are very few pieces of Woffington's work known left in circulation and only two other Pianofortes/Square Pianos are known to exist.
