Amassed over 40 years by Barry and Doris Mason who lived in East Devon, the collection had been stored at the family property. Once the vehicles were out of storage, they were carefully transported to the Dolphin Saleroom.

At the auction, top performers were two Lambretta scooters. A white 1956 LD150 scooter went under the hammer for £3,500, whilst a 1962 Li150 Series 1 scooter fetched £3,000. This had been rebuilt by Barry for his wife as an anniversary gift.

Of the motorbikes, two achieved £3,600; a partially restored 1925 black and green Triumph Model P 494cc, and a candy red and black £3,600 1973 Triumph T140V Bonneville 744cc US export model that was imported back to the UK in 2003. The latter, whilst needing some TLC, was ridden by the vendor to the saleroom prior to the auction.

There were four vintage cars in the sale; a 1951 blue and black Riley RMD Drophead Coupe 2.5 litre scooped the top price, selling for £8,200, while a green 1956 MG TD Roadster, 1250cc achieved £5800.

At the lower price range, autojumble lots also sold well, including eight vintage open face motorcycle helmets including Everoak and Centurion makes, fetching £100. Discovered in the same shed as some of the motorcycles were a number of vintage signs. One, a ‘Lyons' Coffee and Chicory Extract’ enamel advertising sign sold for £260.
